Military Outreach

What is AffairRecovery.com?
AffairRecovery.com is an experienced organization dedicated to saving marriages globally. Our method is simple- we take the absolute low point in someone’s life, adultery and the failure of marriage, and utilize it to reveal God’s greatest gift - redemption. Likewise, we feel that it is extremely important to communicate our beliefs so that church leadership can feel comfortable using AffairRecovery.com as a resource.

Common Needs of Military Chaplains
Here are some common concerns communicated to us by chaplains:

  1. “Between deployments and PCS moves, we don’t have the time it requires to truly help.”
  2. “When a member gets transferred to another base/post, the receiving chaplain has little information on where in the recovery process the couple is- there’s little continuity.”
  3. “Service members prefer seeking help from non-military individuals and off base/post help.”
  4. “Service members who don’t have access to immediate healing experience severe trauma; we need a way to address infidelity sooner.”
  5. “The service member’s spouse leaves the area and therefore couples cannot do counseling together. Further, if a divorce happens, we have no further contact with the non-military ex-spouse.”
  6. “Sometimes, military members are reluctant to be seen coming regularly to the chapel or Family Life Center, especially if they live on base. They want anonymity”
  7. “Our infidelity cases often lead to domestic violence.”
  8. “Our service members turn to alcohol and drug use as a way to cope with infidelity.”
  9. “Non-military spouses distrust military counseling, despite the military’s earnest willingness to help.”
  10. “Cheating destroys morale.”

If you can relate to one or more of these needs, AffairRecovery.com may be a great tool for your church.

The Solution
AffairRecovery.com’s courses have played a unique role in keeping 90% of our couples together.

Our Curriculum
Our cornerstone courses are 911 Marriage (designed to heal couples) and Harboring Hope (designed to heal hurt spouses). Both courses connect participants online through small groups over a 12 -week period; each small group meets weekly on a conference call to discuss their progress on that week’s workbook lesson and DVD session. God does amazing things and works in mysterious ways.  Having gone through infidelity, our authors have created two extremely successful courses that save marriages and refocus couples’ lives on Christ.

 How is Affairrecovery.com Unique?

  • Our courses offer anonymity; only first names are used, meetings are via conference call and all participants can freely share their story with others in the same situation in their online small group.
  • Our courses allow couples who are separated geographically (i.e. work schedule) or from a separatin to take the class concurrently through their small group’s weekly conference call.
  • Our courses are designed by experts who have experienced infidelity.

What Pastors Are Saying
Rick is easily one of the most ‘relatable’ guys I have ever met.  My students loved his blunt style filled with humor and truth, and have been helped immensely by his honesty and wisdom.  I can't think of someone more qualified and better equipped to discuss these issues with people.” -Mark Proeger, College Pastor, Hope Chapel- Austin, Texas

Rick Reynolds is highly respected by many pastors in Austin for his work both with individuals and with couples whose marriages are in crisis. He has an unusual capacity to understand the failure, pain and brokenness that they have experienced and to walk with them through the process of restoring hope and bringing healing. I offer my strong commendation of his ministry." - Dan Davis, Pastors In Covenant- Austin, Texas

"I have known Rick Reynolds as a friend and a counselor for 10 years.  In my 25years of ministry I have never worked with anyone who is as effective as Rick in helping individuals climb out of the prison of sexual addiction.  In addition, I have seen his extraordinary programs and talents save marriages that others had given up on.”-Jerry Rahm, Pastor at Cross Pointe Church- Austin, Texas

What Participants Are Saying

Listen to Tyler's story (8:25)

"Our family has survived numerous deployments and over a dozen moves. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that one day we would be in the midst of an adulterous affair. We have seen military chaplains, secular counselors, and Christian counselors, and although helpful, Affair Recovery was the one thing that finally propelled our marriage forward. No one gets it like they do. Without Affair Recovery, we would be another statistic- a divorced military couple. The military teaches honor, courage, and commitment, and because of Affair Recovery we now have those same qualities in our marriage. Four years later we continue to pay out of pocket for regularly scheduled marriage maintenance. Affair Recovery is the one resource we recommend to others struggling with infidelity. I am proud to say that we are a strong military family who has fully recovered from the effects of infidelity." - G. Active Duty, 05 United States Navy

"After my affairs were discovered, I thought there was NO hope for healing and reconciliation in our marriage. I didn't think my husband would ever forgive me, but even if he could, I had no idea how to tackle the mountain of insanity that still lay before us. We tried traditional counseling with several different therapists, individually and together. But they simply weren't equipped to help us. They had not been trained in affair recovery and didn't recognize the distinct needs of each spouse- the betrayer and the betrayed- and how to facilitate healing. Then we found ARC. It was literally like the blinds had been opened in a very dark room. Finally... some help! From real people who really got it. Rick and his team, through a combination of online courses, conference calls, and the online forum, saved our marriage. I cannot recommend the Affair Recovery Center enough! It is THE best resource out there for military couples struggling with the pain of infidelity." - C, Army Wife (Active Duty)

"I know God in his perfect timing lifted me out of the "affair pit" I was dwelling in for the past 14 months. God used John, Leslie and Harboring Hope as mighty tools to lift me out of that pit. Thank you." - Steve, California
