What is the difference between the 911 Marriage , The On-Site Marriage Recovery Group, and the EMS?

The materials used in the the online course 911 Marriage, The On-Site Marriage Recovery Group, and the EMS are very similar. The main differences are schedule and price. Since much of the material use in the online course is prerecorded, we can offer it at a much lower price than either of the in person options. We are currently conducting a comparison study to determine the comparative effectiveness of each method of delivery. Preliminary results indicate that the 911 Marriage, the Online Course has a success rate very close to that of the on-site marriage recovery group and EMS. Also, the on-site group is not scheduled very often. to

Can I take the course/subscribe without my spouse?
You can certainly enroll in 911 Marriage or subscribe without your spouse. However, all prices are listed per couple and there is no discount if only one spouse chooses to participate. Even if only one of spouse decides to enroll/subscribe, the couple and their family will benefit. The exception is Harboring Hope, the online course for the hur spouse. It is for the hurt spouse only, thus the listed price is per person. top

How much time commitment is necessary for the online courses 911 Marriage or Harboring Hope?
Total time per week is 2.5-5 hours. Each conference call lasts 1-1.5 hours. Keep in mind that it may be long distance for you, however joining the call by computer is free. The recorded video portion is 60-80 minutes broken into 3 files.  The homework ranges from 1-10 pages of reading with 2-6 assignments, usually writing a paragraph or a series of separate sentences. You could probably complete the homework in an hour, but for your own benefit, it would of course be best to not rush. It is probably best to watch the video (1-1.5 hours) then read the material (20-30 minutes) then think about your answers for a while, maybe a day or two even, then write down your thoughts and be ready to discuss the topic at the phone conference (1-1.5 hours). But whether you spread it out or do it all at the last minute is really up to you. Each week's video should be completed before your phone conferences to discuss it. For example, if your course starts on January 1 (Week 0, introductions) you should complete the Week 1 materials before your phone conferences during the week of  January 8 (Week 1) which willl to cover the week 1 materials. top

When are the conference calls for the online courses 911 Marriage or Harboring Hope?
The small group call times are tailored for each group. After enrollment, we ask each couple to complete a time preferences form along with two forms with biographical/demographic data. With this information in hand we form groups that will meet at an appropriate time for each couple and include a good balance of participants. top

Can we take the online courses 911 Marriage or Harboring Hope without the group meetings?
Currently, we do not offer 911 Marriage or Harboring Hope independent of a participant group. We have found that participating in a group is invaluable to the recovery process because the other couples help you to understand your own relationship and recovery better. They offer you a mirror like no other. Aspects that you see in yourself or your spouse, when seen in another couple, are suddenly revealed in a completely different light allowing you to look at your own life, relationship, and recovery more objectively and more healthily. top

What is a mentor? How does online mentoring help in recovery?
An ARC Mentor is a caring and trained individual who has already walked the path or recovery and who is now willing to help you do so too! Mentors are not therapist, they are volunteers who know the value of healing and want to help. When you join the ARC Online, we pair you with a mentor whose former situation resembles yours. Learn from your mentor what recovery is like, what is normal in recovery and afterward. We have found that having a mentor to share with and learn from is a crucial part of recovery from an affair. Mentors are an invaluable resource for couples in crises to give hope to both spouses no matter who was unfaithful. top

How does online mentoring work?
Once you become a member, we pair you with a mentor (see mentor question above). In your private forum, you can post questions and responses to your mentor who will do the same. No other members can see your forum. They will not even see that it exists and you will not see that their forums exist. Mentors can see all member forums so that they can offer recommendations to each other on how to best respond to the members. In that way, it can be like having a whole team of mentors to coach you in your recover. Whenever your mentor submits a response to your post, you'll get a discrete notification via e-mail or you can choose to not receive e-mail notifications and just log in frequently. top

I can participate in the member forums, but how does that help me?
Just as fellowship with a mentor has proven an invaluable source of strength and support, it also helps immensely to share and learn from others who are in your position. Recovering from infidelity is not simple. It's not quick. It's not easy. It's not pleasant. But it is also not impossible. Hope grows within us when we know that we are not alone and that we are not weird in what we are feeling and experiencing. The General Forum and the Prayer Forum offer a way for you to communicate with others who are also recovering and to learn for certain that there really are a lot of people who are on the same path as you. These member forums also give you a vital way to share your triumphs too! Encourage others and the hope grows for all! top

Tell me about anonymity at the ARC Online.
Obviously, a lot of people don't feel like they can tell anyone about what is going on in their marriage. They don't want anyone to know at work, in their family, at their church, in their neighborhood, at their children's schools or anywhere else. Sometimes it just seems like there's no one safe to tell. Here at the ARC Online, other users will know you only by your username. No one has to know where you work, where your kids go to school, where you go to church, etc. But we will know how you feel, because everyone here has experienced infidelity in some way. top

How does payment work?
When you sign up, you'll be asked your credit card information and be charged for your first month. Then, after one month (or three depending on the schedule you choose), your credit card will be automatically charged. top

Do you offer any discounts or scholarships?
We offer membership discounts at a much reduced price when you arrange for a quarterly or yearly subscription. Couples who attend the Emergency Marital Seminar will receive online membership free for one year after EMS. In the future we hope to offer scholarships but are not able to at this time. We usually offer a significant military discount for our online courses. top

How can I give a gift subscription/course enrollment?
If you would like to pay for a subscription for a family member, friend, employee, or other person, you need only his/her name and e-mail address. You can use the notes portion of the check-out page or use the contact form and let us know the name and e-mail of your friend or loved one. top

Are any of your programs covered by insurance?
Although our programs are written by very experienced, professional therapists, they are not considered therapy and are not covered by insurance. top
