For Therapists
Therapist Partnership
The following process helps counselors and therapists use Affair Recovery as a resource for their clients.
1. Determine Need
Determine the unfaithful spouse’s willingness to work on the marriage. 911 Marriage is highly recommended to couples when both spouses are willing to work on the marriage. Harboring Hope is recommended for betrayed spouses regardless of whether the unfaithful spouse is supportive, unsupportive, or gone, and focuses on just the betrayed spouse’s recovery. Harboring Hope is a great resource for any betrayed spouse.
2. Sign Up
Once the need and appropriate course is identified, direct clients to sign up online.
Emergency Marital Seminar Weekend
NOTE: Affair Recovery Online Courses are not therapy they are teaching resources to help couples and hurt spouses heal after infidelity. Are both spouses willing to work on.
3. Next Steps for Your Clients
What is the cost?
911 Marriage, for couples, lasts for 3 months and is $495 per couple. Harboring Hope, for hurt spouses, lasts for 3 months as well and is $395 per person. 911 Marriage has an additional 9-month after-care program at no additional cost.
When will their class start?
After they register they will be prompted to list their top preferred times and days of the week. Using that information, we will send them an email confirming the day, time, and first meeting of their conference call.
How should they prepare?
The first week is an introduction; they do not need to do anything other than attend the call.
How do they access the call?
Your clients will receive an email telling them exactly what to do. They will receive a call ID# and a username and password so that they may join the call.
Who is in the group?
Your clients will be placed into a small group of others who, like themselves, are struggling through the aftermath created by infidelity. A moderator will also be assigned to their small group to facilitate the conference call.
What is the role of the moderator?
The role of the moderator is to welcome your clients, provide order to the call, facilitate the process of sharing homework, call on participants to speak, and in general, serve as liaison between your clients and AffairRecovery.com.
Will this be group therapy?
No. Your clients’ weekly group is more like a support group. They will share homework, personal experiences, and encouragement. The moderator will encourage and support your clients and lead them through this process.
How does the course work?
Each week, following the introductory week, your clients will complete lessons in their workbook. Lessons include reading the chapter, answering questions, completing exercises and watching the DVD lesson. All of this takes approximately 2 hours. In addition, they will join an hour and a half conference call with their small group.
What level of commitment is this process?
Each course requires approximately 3.5 hours each week for 13 weeks. Emotionally, these few weeks can be uncomfortable because your clients are often addressing painful issues. At the same time, participation in the program is very rewarding and comforting as they find themselves on a solid path to recovery.
How do my clients communicate with other group participants?
For the duration of the 13-week course, we ask that your clients communicate with other participants either during the weekly group call or on their private online forum provided by AffairRecovery.com.
What happens after the 13-week course is complete?
Their group begins the aftercare program facilitated by a volunteer from the group while AffairRecovery.com provides marriage enrichment materials.
