Rick Reynolds, LCSW

President and Founder, Affair Recovery

As one of America's foremost authorities helping individuals and couples struggling with affairs and compulsive sexual behaviors, Rick Reynolds brings over 30 years of experience and insight to his role as president and founder of Affair Recovery. Based in Austin, Texas, Affair Recovery is the first company to offer anonymous online group support worldwide for those impacted by infidelity.

Reynolds has authored numerous recovery guides, curricula and papers detailing reasons why people cheat, how couples can overcome the pain, heartache and distrust, and ways to move forward both individually and as a couple. His own personal experience with the recovery process early in his own marriage drove Reynolds to build out courses that are the foundation for Affair Recovery clients today.

Reynolds utilizes his unique experience, gift of humility and non-judgmental nature to help restore lives impacted by infidelity. He has counseled over 2,000 couples in-person in his separate private practice, and to date over 3,000 individuals have completed Affair Recovery's new online educational courses. Clients range from CEOs, vice presidents of major organizations to military personnel, sales associates and homemakers. Clients also include couples separated by deployment as well as couples located internationally.

"The introduction of interactive online courses through AffairRecovery.com is a dream come true for me as a marriage counselor," says Reynolds. "Every day I wondered how we could provide more people out there with the access and support they need, when they need it and in an affordable manner. More importantly, how we could create a community that supports and encourages one another through the recovery process. Now we're making that happen every day with clients through our online solutions."

Reynolds, a LCSW, holds a Master's Degree in Social Work and is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. In 1992, Reynolds developed and began leading "affair recovery groups." He received his Master's of Social Work from the University of Denver and completed three years of post-graduate training at the Colorado Institute for Marriage and Family Therapy. He has also worked at the nationally-known Minirth-Meier Tunnel & Wilson Clinic before moving on to private practice.

They were so impressed with the methodology and small group environment that they both began facilitating EMS Online groups and JR also began leading Harboring Hope groups for men. Now JR uses this experience to help others as they explore becoming Group Leaders and to support them as they facilitate groups themselves. JR came to Affair Recovery after retiring from the aerospace industry.

"Having the opportunity to work with the AR Team to help couples and individuals on their recovery journey was something only God could have orchestrated. Working at Affair Recovery has been the most rewarding work experience I've ever had."

Rodney

Group Leader Manager

As a Group Leader Manager, Rodney works directly with Group Leaders who help couples and individuals rebuild their lives after infidelity. After confessing his own infidelity, Rodney and his wife Angela participated in Affair Recovery's EMS Online course through their church. He credits this program for saving his life, restoring his hope, and healing his marriage. The course empowered him with resources that he didn't know existed, and it gave him a fresh, new perspective on what he thought he knew about marriage. After experiencing such a strong sense of freedom from participating in this course, Rodney knew he had to join the Affair Recovery team. He wanted to be part of the healing, the hope, and the peace that they provide to couples strained by infidelity.

Rodney and his wife have served as Group Leaders and as the Mentor Couple for EMS Weekends. To further his individual healing, Rodney has attended Affair Recovery's Harboring Hope and Hope for Healing courses. He is a licensed and ordained minister who's served in leadership ministry since age 17. Before joining Affair Recovery, Rodney served as a worship pastor/leader for more than 25 years. Ashley came to AR in 2017 as a hurting spouse, following the discovery of infidelity in her marriage, and she credits the Harboring Hope course with giving her a framework for her personal healing. After the restoration of her marriage, Ashley became a Harboring Hope Group Leader, where she could use her personal experience to offer encouragement and support to women going through the unique pain of infidelity trauma. In June of 2021, she got the opportunity to join the Affair Recovery team full-time.

In the past year, Larry and Amber have served as an alumni couple at EMS Weekends and as Beyond EMS Group Leaders.
