Question:

I am the unfaithful, but I confess that the number one issue impeding recovery has been my inability to re-develop loving feelings for my wife. We are 8 months from d-day. She has been patient with me, but is hurt beyond description at having to face me and my lack of feelings. She is hurting so much that she called me in tears the other morning, begging me to let her go. She told me she loved me too much to let me go, that I would have to let her go. We are in the middle of the EMSO course, we have a gifted couples’ therapist and have been making good progress, but my wife understandably wants more. Yet when pressed, I feel incapable of saying "I love you" in an unfettered way. It feels cruel to hurt her like this as I work through all the issues to get to a place where I can be the man she wants me to be. Please help.
