Question:

Hi John and Leslie, My husband's AP was one of my closest friends. Our families were very close and I can now see there were elements of codependency in all of our relationships. The affair was a combo of Type 2 and 5 and was confessed almost 3 months ago. My husband and I are working towards healing and reconciliation. We have cut off all contact with the friend/AP. She wrote me an email about 2 weeks after everything came out which I didn't read until recently. She wrote to me with great familiarity, like we were still very close and shared some inappropriate details. However, she did fully take responsibility for her part and conveyed how sorry she is for everything. I am aware that I owe her nothing and do not need to respond. I have chosen to forgive her and recognize that forgiveness does not necessarily equal reconciliation. I guess my question is this...Can my Christian witness be valid even if I never convey my forgiveness to her or choose to have anything to do with her again? She is a young Christian. Thank you.
