Question:

A few weeks ago we discussed empathy and talked about the fact that most unfaithful spouses didn’t really “count the costs”. I’m having a hard time believing that. I can’t imagine that even a small part of my husband’s brain didn’t compute that this could likely cost him his marriage and his children and he decided we were worth the risk. He claims it was a meaningless, cheap thrill that he planned to never confess to. It was a year long adulterous relationship with one person. Please help me understand this.
