Question:

I have been married for 24 years to a man addicted to pornography and masturbation. He agrees that this has kept him from true intimacy with me. He agrees that his lack of connection has been a huge detriment in our relationship. He has had more than one emotional affair. D-day was 18 months ago and he continues to behave self-centered and disrespectfully towards me and my boundaries. We have completed EMSO. I have completed Harboring Hope. He is towards the end of Hope for Healing yet we had several situations recently, where he completely disregarded agreed boundaries. He is a covert narcissist. I know this because I have lived with all of his betrayals and attitudes. Why is it so difficult for therapists to acknowledge this fact and take a treatment path that will focus on covert narcissism? The lack of support in this only creates a situation where I feel gaslighted by my husband and the professional help he is receiving. As if my life experience is NOT real.
