Question:

My husband had an inappropriate friendship with a subordinate for 4 years, which led to a 14 month emotional affair after they stopped working together. During the affair he was secretly meeting up with her. The last time he remembers seeing her was his birthday last year. We just celebrated his birthday, the first time since discovery, and I realized that it’s a big trigger for me. I didn’t say anything about feeling triggered, but after everyone left the kitchen, I needed a moment to collect myself. My husband came in and asked why I was still at the table. I told him I was feeling triggered and why. I really didn’t want to share at that moment and now I feel guilty that I brought negativity to his day. I also feel angry that I feel guilty because his actions ultimately caused this issue. Did I do the right thing by sharing and how do I handle this situation in the future?
