Question:

My spouse has admitted to me that throughout our entire relationship he has compared my appearance to that of other women - either from porn, social media, or to women he saw in real life. Apparently I always came up short in this comparison. He also admitted that he has questioned in the past if my body is "enough for him". To confuse me even more, he has always given me lots of compliments about my body throughout our relationship before d-day and never openly body-shamed me. Do you have experience with this type of issue? This has hurt me so deeply and I feel very betrayed. I have worked very hard on my body-image since getting these bits of information and I can say that I like my body the way it is and I can see that he is the one with the problem, not me or my body. It just seems so cruel to think that way about someone you are supposed to love. Do you think he truly meant those things while also calling me beautiful on a regular basis? Is there something we can do now, to resolve this? Because I don't feel safe enough to engage in any kind of sexual activity with him after finding this out.
