Question:

In Harboring Hope, you talk about how when someone is in a "Sex Addiction" affair, the person will revert back to the time when they started their addiction (i.e. "He's acting like a 12 year old") What do you have to say about other types of addictions? My husband has issues with alcohol, and that flared up at the same time his affair started. He started drinking when he was 12. Could his immature behavior during the affair be explained in the same way? And what would you suggest on how to go about getting help? In Harboring Hope, it's recommended to work through the betrayal and then the marital distress. How do addictions play into that sequence of recovery? I'm just trying to sort through the affair junk, marital distress, and alcoholism.
