Question:

I was wondering if you can share your opinions about the betrayed spouse sitting in on our spouse's therapy sessions when they are dealing with their sex addiction? My spouse and the therapist had said that I should sit in on the sessions so it can help me learn more about his sex addiction and how sometimes his actions might not be in his control. Logically I understand the importance of this; however, my fear is I'll be more traumatized by all that I'll find out. What is the right balance when it comes to this? My other concern is, if I don't sit in, then maybe I'll lose out on important information that could help my healing, as well as our relationship. The therapist or him will not know what info will be considered important to me, except myself, so in some ways, they won't be able to fill me in on certain information that are deemed important or not if I don’t sit in. So if you have any suggestions, that will be great, thank you.
