Question:

I am someone who struggles greatly in knowing or finding my primary feelings. I suspect there is much caught up in well-rehearsed automatic negative thoughts, feelings of being a disappointment, deep shame of worthlessness and never measuring up, believing that my acceptance and self-worth comes from performance. Some triggers happened yesterday and I tried to deal with them logically, tried to understand what was going on in my head and my heart, then my body just gave out. It felt as though I might be coming down with something, exhaustion, chills, I could hardly move. At first I thought I was simply getting sick, but later I wondered of my body was trying to tell me something. I had the thought, "You need to stop here, something important is going on that needs your attention. It's OK that you don't know how to figure it out on your own, but not being able to figure it out is not an excuse to give up. If you can't figure it out, this is a time to reach out."
