Question:

My husband and I attended EMS Weekend in May 2025. We were less than 2 months from discovery. It was a blur, but very eye opening and I met some lifelong friends. One of the greatest opportunities for our marriage, I am certain. Since then, we've been at every Beyond EMS meeting. Sadly our Married for Life group is slowly dwindling, but thankfully a few of us are carrying on together, as we have become family. I just listened to your article, "Six Types of Affairs", and at this point I believe my husband's affair was based in love addiction. He had a 10-week-affair with a company secretary. Our marriage was quite in need of care prior to the affair, however thanks to you all, I do not take blame for the affair. Can you give more information on the love-addiction affair type and what it is? Is it from some unresolved childhood trauma? I feel, as we attend marriage, individual, and infidelity specific counseling, a lot of this is from childhood trauma. We are both learning to communicate, learning from our past, and learning what we truly wanted/needed from each other prior to the affair.
