Question:

The affair was short-lived, only for a month, but was sexual and she said that she wanted to feel “closeness”. Due to the nature of her work she was isolated for 6 months due to COVID. It put her in a really bad state of mind. Within the first week she was un-isolated. I caught on and contact with the affair partner was cut off and has been ever since. Disclosure was six months ago. The entire truth came out three months ago and a month ago my wife had admitted for the first time in her life that she was sexually assaulted in the worst way imaginable 10 years ago. We want the “us” to work but I feel like I can’t express my feelings or put a burden on her due to the deep pain that has surfaced. She feels the same in a way I believe. How should or could I approach this?
