Question:

In the material for Hope for Healing week 14, a statement is made that there is a 100% chance of relapse in 10 years for those who are sex addicts. This is a damning statistic. What is the basis for this statistic? What is the sample size? As a sex addict, should I just spare my mate the future hurt and trauma and get divorced now? Is is hopeless? Should I just expect it to happen and then deal with the hurt and trauma that I will absolutely positively cause her in the next 10 years?

Thank you for answering this

Thank you for answering this question from my UH. He was feeling discouraged. My take away from what you said was, do the work, which is unique to each person, but do the work to heal.
He is now doing multiple 12 step meetings (call in) instead of just 1x per week that is an hour away. He is fairly isolated where he is living, but is also looking into digital counseling with someone who is more experienced with Sex Addiction.
Thank you for being supportive.
Sandy
