Question
I still feel limited connection or emotional safety with my spouse after disclosure and we're almost finished with EMS Online. My husband, who has a sexual addiction, often asks for and discusses his intense need for sex in our marriage. For me, it's still too emotionally painful to even consider. I have no desire for sex and currently dread it. I'm only able to authentically engage in non-sexual contact. I've verbalized that I would feel used again & its not intimate. My husband is fine knowing that it would still just be a physical release - no different than when the marriage was dysfunctional - he just wants to have sex, despite what we've learned throughout the EMS Online course. This has brought further disconnection & increased fear and anxiety regarding the sex act, which has also been verbalized to him. Why can he not understand that this is unhealthy & deeply hurting to his spouse who is going through betrayal trauma, and that this is greatly hindering the healing process & possible restoration? Is there help in this regard please. We both want the marriage to be restored.
