Question
The affair partner is a member of our church but is not currently going there. The whole church was made aware of the situation by the pastors and they have been making decisions and comments that treat me, the betrayed spouse different. They are pushing me and my husband to reconcile, and eventually be in relationship with her. We have set boundaries with them and communicated how harmful this is but they are not changing their views. The affair partner did not reciprocate the advances but that doesn’t change that persons role and make her safe anymore. My counselor agreed that this is harmful but the pastors are not seeing this and don’t seem as they want to and it’s subjecting me to more harm and triggers from others.
