Question:

My husband truly is trying very hard to help us heal. We’ve shared a wonderful marriage for over 45 years, even though physical intimacy was limited. Over two years ago, I was devastated to learn that he had been involved in an emotional and physical affair that likely lasted ten years. Although we’ve made meaningful progress in our healing, I still struggle with the idea that he had and has little desire for me, yet did for his affair partner. These thoughts and triggers tend to surface and ultimately derail many of our romantic moments. How do I stop feeling rejected when I sense that some of my husband’s affection now is something he’s offering only to support me, rather than something he genuinely feels?
