Question

The first D-Day was 4 months ago with some trickle truth later, but nothing so dramatic it would reset the timeline. My husband had a 2.5 year affair with superficial emotional connection and occasional non-romantic sex. I did some NLP therapy for my childhood trauma and self-worth - which worked a lot, but it doesn't go as deep as EMDR - and I feel a lot better than in the beginning. Intrusive thoughts are subsiding, but I still cry every day and I have trouble sleeping and concentrating for work. So how much time should I give PTSD to resolve itself naturally, before doing EMDR? It's also important to mention my husband wants to reconcile and is doing the work, but his defensiveness about the affair partner - which is more protection of himself, he admits to that - almost feels like re-traumatisation so I'm not sure if my symptoms are continuing because of the present husband's behavior or the betrayal trauma itself.

What type of affair was it?
