Question:

My husband and I had a close, happy marriage for 37 years. Two years ago he fell in love with a much younger woman and maintained a relationship on and off until discovery just recently. We are currently in week eight of the online course. After my initial trauma and anger, I wrestled with and continue to wrestle with depression, something I have struggled with for most of my adult life. I have forgiven my husband, but because I am 61 and my husband 73, I am finding it difficult to find the motivation to start again. I wonder if there are years enough to rebuild. It is difficult to relate to, and gain hope from, the other couples in our online group who are much younger and do not struggle with the trials unique to older couples. I pray, do my course work, have gone for additional counselling, and discuss things with my husband, but I confess I have a hopelessness born from the lateness of our years. This hopelessness numbs me. I feel ...nothing. Additionally, I am somewhat worried because I do not even know if I care about the fact that I have lost interest in my marriage as well as most everything else in life. As a Christian, we know there is always hope in Christ for change. But can it sometimes be just too late to start over? Granny
