Question:

Hi Rick, We're 2.5 months into recovery and it has been tough for both my wife and I. I'm the unfaithful one and am trying to transform into a better man with God's help. I use the resources at AR as well as read literature that can build me up. At some level, I have been able to make progress in creating a safer environment. The problem is not as much about safety as it is about showing love. My wife says she does not feel loved or special, and that is the result of me not expressing it. I have felt that by communicating as much as possible, being more transparent, and becoming healthier I would be able to show my love. She does not see it that way. What are the best ways of showing love in the first 18 months of recovery? Is it up to me to figure out the right way or can I ask her to communicate what would make her feel special? I don't want her to feel like I'm asking for a task list but rather that my expression comes from the heart.
