Question:

After a long time together with our EMS group, now Married for Life group, we recently found out one of the spouses was being unfaithful for a period of time during this recovery process. This was heart shattering to hear for the other spouse but also for all of us in the group as we all built such a tight knit community of trust and openness with one another. Here is my dilemma: after this happened it has triggered an unshakeable dysregulation inside of me and has reactivated all my negative thoughts and paranoid emotions about my spouse. Even though we have done everything to rebuild our marriage in a beautiful way, I can't shake my intrusive thoughts and triggers. It's like "If this person in our group lied to us and their spouse this long, is it possible my spouse has been too?"... it isn't logical but my dysregulation from it has reset everything back two years it seems. What the heck do we do in a situation this earth shattering? Especially a situation that has pulled the rug under from everyone in our group?
