Question:

My intuition has been spot on so far about all the infidelities I have confronted him about, but had some sort of proof before I dragged the truth out of him after initial lying and defensiveness. I feel something happened with his affair partner from a former marriage on a trip with her and other friends at the beginning of our relationship. Even though I questioned their relationship for some time, he maintained they were “friends.” They both returned from the trip very guilty, but I have no proof except my gut feeling and the all the red flags. He did recently admit that she was his former affair partner from his previous marriage and he still had a flirtatious relationship when with me during the time of this trip. I was happy that he admitted the truth about their relationship, but he is maintaining nothing happened on the trip. He is now saying I will eventually push him away if I do not believe him. He also said he would resent me if I asked him to take a polygraph test and might fail due to anxiety. I feel like my feeling were not validated after his story and was let down because I still do not feel whole. What should I do?
