In His presence there is peace, freedom, and comfort. Rodney and Angela remind us that we have the privilege and freedom to bring all of our emotions to God, including the difficult ones. Songs for the Soul | In The Shepherd's Care
Today Rodney and Angela will share with you an original song written from Psalm 23. Find a quiet place, close your eyes and listen as they testify of the Shepherd’s provision, peace, protection, presence, prosperity, and promises. In spite of the pain and trauma of infidelity, we can find solace in the arms of our mighty God as He holds us in His comfort and care.
In this episode, Rodney and Angela celebrate 26 years of marriage, and 10 years of their new “Marriage 2.0.” By God’s grace, they have walked through the valley of the shadow of death, and have come out with a testimony that we have no reason to fear, because we are never alone in the Shepherd’s care.

Songs for the Soul | Turn Your Eyes
In this episode Rodney and Angela share the profound change they experienced following his D-Day on March 8th, 2014. Amidst the death of the old, a new marriage and new hearts emerged. They share how they navigated this journey with gratitude and grace. Through transparency and healing, they discovered the power of God's promise to restore and uplift.
Scripture became more than words on a page; it became their anchor, guiding and reminding them to fix their eyes on Jesus. Just as Peter was able to walk on water when he focused on Jesus, they held to that and became “Water Walkers”.
They encourage others facing their own versions of "D-Day" to turn to Christ for endurance and hope, finding contentment in His peace amidst chaos.

Songs for the Soul | Through the Valley
We are so excited to finally share with you a brand new season of 'Songs for the Soul' with Rodney & Angela. Songs for the Soul was created by this inspiring couple as a space where their testimony meets their harmony, to encourage couples and individuals who are overcoming infidelity.
In this episode, Rodney shares a very personal song that he wrote during a hard season in his life, long before infidelity rocked his marriage. He would sing it quietly to encourage himself, and never thought he would be sharing it with others. But God had other plans. In Rodney's own words, "I present this song as a gift, in hopes that it can encourage someone else going through a valley right now."

Songs for the Soul | Rick Reynolds
We are so excited to finally share with you a brand new season of 'Songs for the Soul' with Rodney & Angela. Songs for the Soul was created by this inspiring couple as a space where their testimony meets their harmony, to encourage couples and individuals who are overcoming infidelity.
In the second episode, Affair Recovery Founder Rick Reynolds, LCSW, joins the discussion with scientific links between singing and recovery from infidelity. Check out this note from Rick explaining the history behind this beautiful passion project.
In August of 2015, I was invited to Gateway Church for a reunion with past participants of the EMS program. To my delight, a married couple was leading worship together. My heart was deeply touched by their music.
Afterwards, I went up to introduce myself to those gifted musicians. After…

Songs for the Soul | Jesus Paid It All
In the spirit of this Easter and Resurrection season, today Rodney and Angela share an old hymn that celebrates the good news of the Gospel - Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection - "Jesus Paid It All." For the believer, His payment on the cross changes everything. Imagine owing a debt so large, you could never pay it off. Even the sum total of life's wages and possessions would leave you drastically short, because of your own sin. You've resolved that even in death, you will never be free. Yet, somehow, through no merit of your own, you hear that someone, on your behalf, completely erased all your debt. When the reality of this truth sinks in, what immense joy and gratitude fills your heart, knowing that you no longer have to live life under a cloud of sin, guilt, shame, fear, and bondage! That's what Jesus did on the cross for us, over 2,000 years ago…

Songs for the Soul | Amazing Grace
Today we share what is probably known as the most popular and well-loved hymn of our time, "Amazing Grace." Simply put, grace is God's unmerited, unearned favor. GRACE could also be an acronym for God's Riches At Christ's Expense. It's Him doing for us what we could never do for ourselves. What makes grace so amazing is that as fallen, sinful people, God still loves us unconditionally. Whether you have been maritally unfaithful or betrayed, God's grace is available to you. He trades our poverty for His riches, our weakness for His strength, and earth's sorrows for heaven's joy. As these words are sung over you, may you sense God's refreshing peace - and His amazing love drawing you close to Him.

Songs for the Soul | The Angry GIFTS Song
Here is a quick audio version of the song: The Angry GIFTS Song
Today we will present a fun one-minute original song to help pull back the curtain of anger to uncover the primary emotions beneath. Using the GIFTS acronym from the EMS Curriculum, we're able to practice self-awareness, self-expression, and self-management. Ephesians 4:26a instructs us to, "Be angry but do not sin." Anger, as with fire, can create danger if it's not managed well. However, with proper boundaries, as fire within the safety of a fireplace, it can assist in creating an environment of warmth, intimacy, and vulnerability. How are you dealing with your anger - and how is it dealing with you? Is it being used as fuel to enhance your relationships and improve communication, or is there destruction from uncontrollable implosions or explosions? Maybe a first step for you…

Songs for the Soul | Rodney & Angela Uncut
Today, eight years after disclosure and discovery (D-Day), in celebration of completing ten episodes, totalling over 10,000 views - Rodney and Angela present to us a raw, uncut, unplugged, and unleashed ‘Songs for the Soul’ experience! From start to finish, there’s no telling what will happen between these two. God’s grace has taken them from lamenting to laughter, and from turmoil to triumph. He has given them beauty for ashes. While we know there’s nothing funny about the trauma of infidelity, triggers, reminders, and betrayal - tune in for a little joy and laughter to brighten up your day. Scripture teaches that a merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones (Proverbs 17:22). Well, in the world of recovery, we’ve all had plenty of dry bone experiences - every now and then, give yourself permission to laugh a little - in…

Songs for the Soul | It Is Well
Many of the old hymns have a special place in our hearts. Today's song, "It Is Well," is no exception to that. The lyrics were penned by Horatio Spafford after tragedy suddenly struck his family. As you hear the story recounted along with the melodious tunes, may your burden be lifted and your load lighter. The trauma and weight of infidelity doesn't have to continue to suffocate you. As we sing over you, we're praying for supernatural peace - even in the midst of the storm. We know that grief comes in waves, but Jesus is still calming seas and walking on water. Storms will come and go, but you have a Savior that promised never to leave you. He is with you in the storm and offers peace that surpasses all understanding. May your heart find solace and comfort as the hymnist graciously declares: Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, It is…

Songs for the Soul | A Husband’s Prayer
Here is a quick audio version of the song: A Husband's Prayer
As husbands, we have the unique privilege of covering our wives in prayer. Whether they are the hurt spouse, the unfaithful one, or even both - they need someone fighting for the good of their heart, soul, and mind. And make no mistake about it, all wives need prayer, including yours. Today we offer up a prayer in song petitioning God for their blessing and healing. We also pray for God to teach us to love them as Christ loves His bride, the Church. He modeled His love when He gave His life for her on an old rugged cross. True love requires sacrifice - blood, sweat, and tears. With this love, according to Ephesians 5 and 1 Peter 3, we learn to dwell with them and honor them as the precious gifts from God that they are. Because of our inherent sinfulness and selfishness, this is not…

Songs for the Soul | When You Are Triggered
Here's a quick link to the audio version of the song: "When You Are Triggered"
For today's episode, we will sing a song we wrote to help with triggers. Because triggers can be so volatile; we understand it may or may not work for everyone in every situation. But even if not, the message of the song is still so very potent because it includes lessons we learn from the EMS curriculum.
Following the earthquake of infidelity and trauma, there are always triggers. They show up without warning, armed with painful reminders of life's most challenging hardships, and can sometimes have us acting outside of our best selves. Well, today we present a song to soothe the savage beast wreaking havoc in your mind. As David played music for King Saul, the evil spirit departed. That's our prayer for this song. We want to stop the emotional…

Songs for the Soul | Great is Thy Faithfulness
Our message in this episode is really best stated in Lamentations 3:22-24. It says:
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'Therefore I hope in Him!'"
We simply want to sing over you today and continue to infuse hope in you through the song Great is Thy Faithfulness.
In a world plagued by unfaithfulness, to extract an ounce of hope in God's faithfulness is nothing short of a miracle. Where mercy, forgiveness, compassion and empathy are lacking, God gives us a daily dose of His unfailing mercy that helps us go on another day, until we need filling again. Let this song bathe your soul in God's great faithfulness and continue to heal any wounds from unfaithfulness to Him, ourselves,…

Songs for the Soul | But God
I've always been known by my smile. Well, after D-Day we weren't sure when, or even if, I would ever smile again. So, it was fitting that the verse of hope that God gave me was from Proverbs 31:25 "she shall rejoice in time to come" - another translation says "she laughs without fear of the future." In this episode, I'll share a devotion I wrote about how everything is falling apart, "but God..." filling in the blanks of my uncertainty with God's ability. This sent out an SOS and helped me acknowledge my pain, but gave me hope that although things may be temporarily troubled and tragic in my life, with God, I am eternally safe and secure. Pouring out my heart to God, and exchanging my pain for His promise, would prove to be how I would rejoice in time to come, and smile and laugh again without fear of the future. What a relief! I hope and…
