Question:

Several times we have had moments of feeling like we've taken two steps back after having very good, positive, progressive spells in our relationship and recovery. An argument in the morning can cause my betrayed spouse's day to be completely ruined. We try to connect soon after the argument when we have both left the house for work but talking or texting what we are feeling. Even still, my spouse doesn't think he can have a good day. Is there anything we (or he) can do to help his day not be as bad as he predicts it will be? I try to send loving and caring texts/phone calls through out the day letting him know that I am thinking about him as well as my whereabouts to help him feel safe. Is there anything else I am missing? I ask him what would make his day go better but he doesn't know. What are some tips to help get us back on the path to recovery when experiencing these set backs?
