Question:

My husband continues to have contact with the affair partner. It is through text messages and he says that she only contacts him to check in and see how he is doing. I have confronted him with this and I have discovered the contact rather than him being up front with it. When I ask why he feels the need to reply to her, he says, “It’s the friendship aspect of their relationship that he is having a hard time letting go.” I respond to him saying that they are not just friends. I have told him that if this behavior continues that I will no longer be able to engage in the relationship anymore. He is also very ambivalent about the marriage. This conversation was about 2 weeks ago and we have not talked about it since. How do I start the conversation again? Should I start moving forward if he says that contact is still ongoing?
