I went through extreme childhood sexual abuse from ages 3-7. It caused me to disassociate during my affair, especially abusive and physical parts of the 6 week affair, and I am struggling to explain how disassociation is experienced for my husband. I’m still trying to figure out how it works and when it starts and stops which makes explaining it to him very difficult, leaving him with constant struggle to understand everything. We both know rationally that disassociation is not and excuse. How do I explain disassociation and it’s part in the affair to my husband in a way that he would understand?
