Question:

We are 2 1/2 years out from discovery of my husband's affair with a close friend of ours. In the beginning, I mistakenly thought that if I go through every detail it would help me get past the incidents (how they looked at each other, what I imagined they must have felt at the time etc) Unfortunately, I have created very detailed images now that I feel are ingrained in my mind. I have no idea why I thought that was what I should do! Now, this far out, I feel like I will never be able to stop facing these triggers. I wonder if I caused even more damage with how I handled these triggers in the beginning. Is there anything you recommend to help me end this pattern? What should I have done differently when processing these triggers?
