Question:

As the unfaithful spouse, it has been 17 months since discovery and breaking it off with my emotional affair partner. I have no desire to be back with her. And I love my wife more than I ever have. Why do I still have random thoughts of the affair partner, some with feelings and some without? Some are just pictures of her in my mind and others are imagined situations. I take steps, such as quoting Scripture and thinking about my wife, immediately when I have these thoughts and find that they go away quickly. Are there things that I can do to eliminate these intrusive thoughts completely?
