Question: 

We are 3 1/2 months from DDay. Our biggest issue is my husband's struggle to show empathy to my emotional needs. When I get upset, he has not yet learned how to respond to me even if I am upset specifically due to something he has said. We are seeing a counselor and making progress but I am struggling with this issue. What suggestions do you have for me to handle my emotions and be more tolerant of his lack of empathy?

Hard for me to wrap my head

Hard for me to wrap my head around men being empathetic toward hurt they have caused their wives are only on TV. I'd be interested in knowing the cause/reason of this. Perhaps it is assumed similarities on my part --I can't imagine turning my back on my hurting spouse especially if their hurt was caused by me whether volitionally or not. This is a tough one to get past.
