Question:

My husband’s deep emotional and sexual affair ended 8 months ago. He says he fell in love with her. But, he ended it with her because he came to the point where he realized he didn't want to lose his family (angry that he didn't realize that sooner). I am in the harboring hope class. And we are in marriage counseling (after I told him I was leaving if he didn't go to counseling). The counseling has been helpful and so has the HH class but I still don't know how to forgive my husband and I can't even bring myself to have sex with him. I feel sick to my stomach knowing that he had a deep connection and physical relationship with someone else. Every morning I wake up in deep pain wishing none of this ever happened. I don't want to live the rest of my life with this pain. Can you please tell me, how is it possible to reconcile with someone who decided to be in an actual relationship with someone else (they went on dates, had long talks, and he even brought her into our home and our bed when I was away). His affair was about a year long. Do people actually get over this? I still don't see how it is possible to get over this and have a happy marriage. I feel like I am staying because we have a 2 year old and I don't want to be a single mom.
