Question:

My husband of 25 years was recently caught having an affair. His mother helped him, and was encouraging him to have the affair. She was also encouraging him to leave me and our four children. The whole time this was going on she was pretending to be nice to me but in reality she was deceiving me and trying to destroy my marriage. My husband has also been remembering bits and pieces of childhood sexual abuse from his mother but he still has not uncovered all the repressed memories to sort all that out. Should my husband keep his mother in his life given that she actively facilitated and supported his actions while deceiving me and advocating for the end of our marriage, what are the implications and considerations for maintaining a relationship with his mother moving forward in our journey of affair recovery?
